Two Tim Hecker cuts.

Tim Hecker is a producer responsible for some really interesting, non-objective soundscapery.

Sigur Rós - Live at the Southside Festival in Germany (2008).

I was fortunate enough to have seen Sigur Rós twice this year, though only the latter occasion was worth mentioning. The first wasn't as great not because they didn't sound as stunning and mind-numbingly beautiful as they usually do; rather, it was because I was sitting in a field at 2am with a bunch of hippies waiting for my acid to kick in. In fact, the only highlight of that show was when two members signed my copy of their new album before the show that night, which is not to say I'm at all disappointed about that. However, I saw them a second time in September at a proper venue, an old church that puts on shows during the week, in NYC, which was purely sublime. Here is a live cut from a festival they played in Germany.

Slowdive: Live at Reading: 26 February 1991

Slowdive was an English dream pop band that formed in 1989 and lasted until 1995. Their music is really soft, slow and melodic in addition to being conducive to the perfect, hazy nostalgia of which I am so overly fond. They sound like 90's England, or so I would imagine.

1. Shine
2. Catch
3. Slowdive
4. Morning Rise
5. Colours In Spin
6. She Calls
7. Avalyn

M83 - Before The Dawn Heals Us (2005)

This is my favourite M83 album partly because it sounds just like the cover looks. It's clear and crisp while still being challenging and complex. Definitely night-time music.

Ass - My Get Up And Go Just Got Up And Went (2007)

This is one Swedish guy playing some instruments, mostly an acoustic guitar, and creating some really cool moods and aural landscapes in the process. It's similar to early Kaki King, I'd say.
